Want to get a head start on a trade qualification in cabinet making or carpentry? This is the course for you!

You'll learn how to work at a production operation or assistant level — either in a factory setting or on a work site — in the construction, manufacture and installation of timber and composite products; including furniture such as lounges and chairs and cabinetry  for kitchen and bathroom construction and installation.

Skills and knowledge you'll get through this qualification include using different kinds of timbers and finishing products, doing measurements and calculations to work out required materials, learning how to do different joints, use a range of tools and equipment, creating basic scale design drawings, and applying surface coatings with spray equipment.

When you complete the Certificate II in Furniture Making (Cabinet Making/Furniture Making Pre-Apprenticeship) you'll be what employers are looking for as an apprentice furniture maker or cabinet maker.

Cabinet makers work from plans or drawings to make home and office furniture, as well as make built-in cupboards and fixtures for new homes and shops. Furniture Making concentrates on the production of solid and free standing furniture.
