This qualification offers a work entry program that covers essential job ready skills and knowledge for work in any field of electrotechnology including a domestic or commercial electrician, electronics technician, data technician, security technician, refrigeration and airconditioning mechanic, telecommunications technician, or in the electrical distribution trade. It's an excellent pathway to getting a full apprenticeship or into a job as an electrical trades assistant. 

You'll learn about occupational safety standards, problem solving in DC circuits, using routine plant and equipment, identifying electronic components and materials, fabricating and assembling componentry, carrying out diagnostic tests, plus a range of administration skills. You'll also complete first aid training, including CPR. 

This course may also include a work placement component, where you'll gain valuable hands on experience.

Thornlie, Rockingham and Mandurah Campuses offer first rate, fully equipped, purpose-built workshops, where students get hands-on practice working in simulation rooms, using advanced equipment and the latest techniques.

This entry level qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work safely in an electrotechnology environment, solve problems in multiple d.c. circuits and extra low voltage single path circuits. You will learn skills that will enable you to identify the required components/materials and use routine equipment, plant or technology relevant to the electrotechnology industry.

OVERVIEW
Pre-apprenticeships in schools are Certificate II programs that have been nominated by Western Australian industry training councils as valid pathways from school to a traditional trade apprenticeship. Students in years 11 and 12 attend school, train at the College and are linked to an employer for work placement.
This nationally accredited qualification is designed to provide participants with industry specific training to gain skills, knowledge and behaviours to enable transition into an apprenticeship in the Electrotechnology Industry.
