Engineering is an exciting field of work, with a variety of specialised areas including including mining, hydraulics, manufacturing and marine engineering that you could get into. Your future will be off to a great start with the Certificate II in Engineering which will introduce you to the industry and give you core skills and knowledge that you can build on.
You'll gain skills in metal arc welding, tungsten arc welding, and manual heating/thermal cutting; and learn how to do measurements and calculations; technical drawing and drafting; perform computations; and interpret and apply engineering measurements. You'll also learn how to use use hand tools and machines in the workshop; including drill presses, lathes and mills.

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required of workers employed as Engineering/manufacturing Employees -Level III as defined in the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award or in related industries where Engineering/ Manufacturing Employees work.

Delivery location
The Certificate II in Engineering Traineeship (MEM20105) provides entry-level training for the metals and engineering industry and equips students with sufficient skills to enter into paid positions as a trades assistant. This qualification can lead into an apprenticeship in the metal trades upon successful completion. This qualification can be delivered on the job or attending structured classes. Delivery location
The Certificate II in Engineering is an accredited pre-apprenticeship course to get you ready for a career in engineering, manufacturing or related industries. When you complete the course, you will have the knowledge and experience to gain an apprenticeship in your specific area of interest.
During the course, you will learn how to create engineering drawings; handle engineering materials and tools; perform basic welding processes; fabricate products; and comply with workplace safety regulations. The course also includes work experience modules – so you can gain experience with your new skills in a real work place.
This qualification provides pathways to the engineering trades. The core and elective units form part of the Certificate III qualification and may provide credit in a construction industry Australian Apprenticeship
