You'll learn about maintaining safety of the drill crew; communicating information and work instructions effectively to the team; ensuring risk management processes are used in the workplace; setting up and preparing for drilling operations; carrying out operational maintenance on plant and equipment; and identifying and minimising environmental concerns. 

You'll also learn the skills and knowledge needed to run on site operations; respond to emergency situations; conduct drilling operations; and maintain and monitor site standards.

This traineeship is for Drillers requiring national certification for drilling operations. AMPT Services can supply this traineeship for all streams of drilling operations, blast hole, water well, geotechnical, environmental, seismic, mineral exploration, foundation/construction, trenchless and directional drilling. Our eLearning platform provides the learning component of the course followed by practical training and assessment in the field on the rig. Our eLearning platform works everywhere 24/7 with or without internet coverage, on devices using both apple and android systems. Students can use the platform in remote areas to complete the course and when in internet range the eLearning platform syncs and uploads the course to our eLearning platform.  The system allows for voice to text to complete assignments, so no writing involved when in internet range. Site supervisors are regularly updated with student progress reports. Our fully qualified trainers and assessors regularly complete site visits to ensure trainees are up to date with training and assessment and are available for support services via telephone or email.

Advance your career in the drilling industry with a traineeship to earn while you learn. Trainees complete a nationally recognised qualification, RII31820 Certificate III in Drilling Operations, while learning valuable skills at work and under the guidance of Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI) as your Supervising Registered Training Organisation. This qualification reflects the role of a Trainee Driller or Driller which involves performing a broad range of tasks in a wide variety of drilling contexts with discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services, or contingency measures. Drillers will often oversee the role of an accompanying Drillers Assistant while reporting to a Senior Driller or site Supervisor. Traineeships are a good option for employers to have their new full or part-time employees attain the industry qualification through on-the-job training and learning all the necessary knowledge and skills with ADI. The expected traineeship completion timeline is 24 months for RII31820 Certificate III in Drilling Operations which involves successful completion of 13 units of competency made up of 8 core units and 5 elective units. ADI offers this qualification nationally through a blended delivery mode based on the employer’s and State requirements. Traineeship entry requirements: Participants should be new employees of the company and have access to a drill site where competencies can be demonstrated and competency achieved within the traineeship period. Employers must provide trainees with adequate paid work time to complete all training and assessment requirements.
