If you want to start your career  in the transport and logistics industry as a heavy haulage truck driver, this is the course for you! Through this qualification, you'll gain the skills and knowledge to confidently operate a heavy vehicle in all situations and environments including urban, regional and long-haul routes.

You will learn how to carry out basic workplace calculations; follow work health and safety procedures; apply fatigue management strategies; interpret road maps and navigate pre-determined routes; and more, to get skilled up to work as a delivery driver, courier, or general freight driver. You may then be able to obtain one of the following licenses:

  • Heavy Rigid Heavy Combination; or
  • Multi Combination class vehicle.

You may also apply for a forklift (LF) licence.

Please note: This course does not include the licencing process. Students who are seeking a licence in either a HR, HC and or MC truck licence must complete this through the Department of Transport (DoT) or a registered agency of DoT. Your training provider can provide further detail regarding this.

This qualification will give students the skills and knowledge to work safely in the road transport industry. This qualification has been designed to promote new entrants and support upskilling of existing workers in the heavy haulage truck driving industry.  It has been developed in consultation with the Western Roads Federation (WRF), Fenix Newhaul and Central Regional TAFE (CR TAFE).

You will learn how to:

  • Shift materials safely using manual handling methods,
  • Carry out vehicle inspection,
  • Apply fatigue management strategies,
  • Operate commercial vehicles,
  • Carry out inspections of trailers,
  • Load and unload goods / cargo

Flexible Training Solutions (FTS) offers Traineeships in TLI31222 Certificate III in Driving Operations. Training is conducted onsite with a combination of classroom for COR & Fatigue Management and InCab and on the dock to ensure transfer of knowledge from theory to practical application. Trainees will be issued a learner guide for each unit of competency (UOC) and where practical UOCs will be clustered to reflect onsite tasks. FTS will create an individual training plan from a range of competencies to suit the job role and company requirements. This qualification is Employment based.

Our Certificate III Driving Operations Traineeships for Truck Drivers are available to all companies working in the Transport & Logistics Industry. This traineeship is designed to inform, educate and provide safety-first approaches to all truck drivers operating commercial transport to deliver Freight. With our Certificate III Driving Operations Traineeships for Truck Drivers, each candidate will be taught the fundamentals of transporting freight based on Australian and industry standards. Throughout this traineeship, each candidate will be required to complete a total of 15 units. Each unit has been crafted to ensure the utmost safety of the driver and public relating to loading/unloading, transportation and managing of the load. Topics Covered include: Work Health & Safety, Secure Cargo, Calculate Mass Area and Dimensions, Emergency Procedures, Operate Commercial Vehicle, Fatigue Management Strategies and many more.
