With this qualification, you can take the first step towards a successful career in professional music performance. 

This nationally recognised qualification will teach you how to arrange and perform music as a soloist, instrumentalist, or as part of a band.  You’ll learn how to write song lyrics and music; develop your skills in aural perception and music notation; and learn about music copyright, preparing for performance, improvisation skills, backup accompaniments, and ensemble skills for playing or singing music. 

You'll also gain an understanding of the music industry, and develop your knowledge of different music styles and genres, and graduate with a  repertoire to perform in ensembles and for auditions.

Turn your raw talent into a career

This course introduces you to the exciting and challenging world of music performance and will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to get started in the music industry.

You will focus on gaining skills in songwriting and arranging, ensemble/performance and recording. You will participate in recording sessions in our studios and follow the production processes through to the completion of a demo recording.

At the end of your course, you will have performed and recorded, as well as gained skills in communication, critical listening, stagecraft, musical style and industry practice.

This course is only run in semester 2 each year.
