This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight or 4-day week. Based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, it’s a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.  As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical assurance to Refinery asset management and maintenance. This role will be responsible for driving improvements in asset availability and manage asset lifecycle of HV and LV electrical power systems.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Build effective equipment maintenance tactics & associated documentation to align with Asset Care Plan & Electrical system optimisation
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting electrical issues, analysing failures, and developing effective solutions
  • Ensure compliance to relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulation
  • Champion a safety focussed culture, conducting risk -assessments and following proper change management procedures

Selection criteria

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Significant experience in Maintenance / Reliability engineering within mining, power generation, or heavy industry focusing on HV assets.
  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of turbo generators, power transformers, transmission lines, HV and LV switchgears, VVFDs/soft starters, Protection relays, switchyards, battery chargers and UPS
  • Experience in developing and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies for HV assets like Generators, Switchyards, protection relays and HV breakers
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead, or mentor a team
  • Qualifications for this position are: 
  • Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Graduate Certificate in Asset Management (Desirable)
  • Certificate in Asset Management and/or Reliability Centred maintenance (Desirable)
